‘ON PAINTING’
In 2007 I published a handbook titled ‘ON PAINTING’. This book is designed for the student of painting from life who may be interested in the information imparted to me by my teachers.
I see my teachers and their teachers as my painting family tree and as such I trace my painting origins back through history to the likes of Diego Velasquez and Rembrandt.
Readers will gain knowledge about tonality, colour mixing, measuring and even brush cleaning.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been taught painting by my teachers both of whom stressed the discipline required to become competent with this method of representing reality on canvas in oils.
